7 TIME SAVING MEAL PREP HACKS: ⠀⠀ 1. Make sheet pan meals your friend (oven at 360 - potatoes in, add veggies a bit later and salmon last. done) ⠀⠀ 2. Set it an forget it - the slow cooker is such a wonderful meal prep tool! Cool a whole chicken, pulled pork, soups, chilli... to calculate bulk macros simply add all ingredient info together and divide by however many portions you split it in. ⠀⠀ 3. Don’t forget about the snacks! This is often where people fail to plan and resort to the next best thing available. Make some energy balls, plan in a protein bar or fruit, buy Greek yoghurt and portion it out with fruit... ⠀⠀ 4. Use mason jars for salads. Yes, you can prepare salads/raw veggies ahead of time, just make sure to keep dressings and wet things out for the time being or things that start going brown (avocado for example). ⠀⠀ 5. Prepare breakfast the night before - overnight oats, egg cups cooked in the oven, homemade breakfast muffins or you can even put all the smoothie ingredients in the cup already and simply blend in the morning. ⠀⠀ 6. Make the same thing in different ways = bulk buy something like chicken breast and then make various batches with various seasoning or different sauces to mix it up (or simple make one side of the baking sheet one flavor and the other another flavor). ⠀⠀ 7. Make once, use three times. Make individual meal ingredients (for example lean ground beef) in bulk, then if you don’t want the same exact dinner ever night combine in different ways: - Zoodles Bolognese - cauliflower rice and Asian beef stirfry - eggplant lasagna... just as examples ⠀⠀ Prepared meals/ingredients usually last multiple days in the fridge. If you are concerned it won’t stay fresh for that long you can also freeze cooked meals or plan on doing a second meal prep halfway through the week. Meal prep for the week! I love roasting /cooking a heap of veggies at the start of the week. I then mix and match to make a couple of different meals during the week. It makes meal times so easy and is such a time saver! When choosing foods to eat, think about your daily routine. Have you got time to fuss about? Are you in the car? Are you in between clients? School pick up? Or dropping kids off to after school activities? These are all important things I factor in when choosing my snacks. As well as, when am I my most hungry (this is really important).. the last thing you want to do is not be prepared and go nuts on whatever you find first🍩🍩😵 Fruit is an ideal option, no fuss... my morning tea is an apple and banana at the moment! Minimal effort, easy to smash it down between clients, house work etc.😜   #YoPro   is a great option.   #Mayvers   peanut butter on rice cakes are another one of my favs... and with their great portion sized servings you can’t go wrong. I also include a protein shake in the afternoon, after all, I’m doing a heap of strength training, need to feed those muscles. 🌟 🌟 FIRST POST 🌟🌟 BREAKFAST- 3x poached eggs, 1x wholemeal bread (B CHOICE), baked beans, spinach (S) and mushrooms (S) One of my favourite breakfasts. Had a bit of a wobble after months solidly on plan but today I draw a line, especially with only 18 days until my holiday, 19 days until my birthday and 29 days until I start uni again! Time to get back in that gym everyday and fill up on that speed food. I know I’m not going to be able to make a huge difference before my holiday but anything will do. I’m intending on trying so meal prep at the end of the week when I get paid to help me stay on plan so if anyone’s got any   #mealprep   tips drop me a comment. Some people ask me if I eat rice, and my answer to that is yes of course! 🍚 • I learned that whole grains compose a huge part of our healthy plate and eliminating it from our diet can create an imbalance because carbohydrates are macronutrients that provide us energy. 💪🏼 • However, not all carbohydrates are created equal. What we need to be cautious about is what kind of carbs we mostly take everyday. Too much refined carbohydrates can cause obesity and type 2 diabetes. • Whole grains such as brown rice is healthier than refined grain as white rice, just like wheat bread is healthier than white bread. All carbs are broken down into glucose to be absorbed by the body and used as energy. Refined grains cause blood glucose to increase quickly while whole grains contain fiber that slows down digestion and absorption. • So make sure you are eating the right carbs nd in the right amounts. A healthy balanced meal is composed of mostly whole grains and veggies and a bit of protein and fruits. 🥗 • Sharing my hearty lunch earlier today of rice with mixed veggies and grilled lemon and herb chicken.
